No ability to send attachments via GMail or Hotmail from a mobile phone

I was on the road today and had to send out an important email from a remote location. The email should have included an attachment. I decided to use my Google GMail account to do this. Google offers a streamlined version for mobile phones and as I was online from my Motorola Q Smartphone this is a great option - so I thought. I logged into GMail and started drafting the email. When I tried to attach a file I wanted to send I could not find any option for that. So, I went to my Hotmail (or now Windows Live) account and found the same problem. No ability to attach a file to an email. What’s up with that? Why offer a mobile version of your email services, if you cut out the features. Mobile for me means, that a website is optimized for either small screens or low bandwidth (or a combination of both). However - with high-speed data connections becoming more and more available on cell phones, Google, Hotmail, and all the others should seriously consider that their services need to grow with the technology. A mobile version Gmail is great - but only if it allows the user to do at least the basicsĀ and that includes sending attachments.
I am leaving now trying to see how Yahoo! is doing. I noticed they have to activate this feature first and want to send me an SMS …..
