Adwords Tycoons - When “rip offs” go bad

Most webmasters have heard about those infamous $97.00 eBooks that promise great income. Most webmasters have seen different mentoring/coaching “programs” that promise quick and solid ways to financial freedom. We all realize that these ebooks and programs are often just hype and the only one getting rich is the seller. Some ebooks have some useful information and some of these coaching programs can help, too. But they all have in common that only the seller is getting rich. However, the hype created by these sellers often shows great marketing we all can learn from.

This week a new coaching program/software/ebook type of product was launched - called “Adwords Tycoons” and I really have to laugh about these idiots trying to sell it. It seems like this venture is not turning out to be as profitable as planned. Only 300 spots were available at a price of $1,497.00 each. If all 300 spots would have been sold, the sellers would have made almost $450,000.00, but I guess their aggressive pricing (aka GREED) did not work out as anticipated. I am on many mailing lists for many different reasons and so I was “included” in the pre-sales hype and the announcements during “opening day”. I have seen other products being sold out on less than 3 minutes, but the Adwords Tycoons Losers apparently miscalculated their fortunes. Throughout the day I received different updates (= desperate cries for attention).

We aware of the loaded server in the past 2 hours, and we’re
installing another server to share the workload.

Oh, really? Your server cannot handle a couple hundred or maybe even thousand visitors at the same time reading your flat file website? Do you really think that we believe you this crap? I checked your website several times throughout the entire morning and it loaded perfectly fine. You’re also not somebody famous who gets hit with hundreds of thousand visitors instantly the same moment.

Don’t worry, we’ll keep the website open until this problem will be
solved. Once it is solved we’ll keep the servers open for a hour or two,
and then close the website.

That is good to know. I am so glad you know how to handle your customer’s concerns.

We are about to finish all “Adwords Tycoons” packages.
I urge you to grab your copy now!

>>> THE BAD NEWS <<<<

We are about to close the site soon!

Yes, please close the website and let us work in peace. 2 days later I received the following (desperate) email:

In the past 2 days we received hundreds of emails from
angry fellows who said they either tried to order, but
couldn’t, or they’ve entered the website after it was
already closed.

and

We don’t want too many disappointed and frustrated people not to
mention angry people.

Our top competitors already mad about us for releasing this
secret information and tools to the public.

Of course they would, they wanted all the fortune for themselves.

Therefore, we give up.

You asked for it. We agree.

But we agree with limitations.

We’ll open the website tomorrow Friday, June 15, 2007 at 10:00am EST
JUST for the weekend.

Apparently you did not sell more than 10 spots to be so desperate. You are leaving the website open for the entire weekend? You apparently mislead anyone who bought your product thinking there would only be 300 copies and now you’re pretty much opening the door to thousands of other people? You are so f%#%$king greedy and now this sh!t is not working out as planned, eh?!

There Is 1 Response So Far. »

  1. Chris,

You’ve surprised me with this article.

Did you see their credit card statements? How come you’re jumping into guesses and conclusions?

Now, the ONLY fact is that they are VERY aggressive with their marketing, TOO aggressive if you ask me, but besides that I can’t conclude anything. Maybe they sold 1000 packages and they want to sell 1000 more…

I just ask myself why inventing bad roumers based on guesses. That’s all.

Chris, I’m sorry about my blatant way of speech, and I hope you’ll publish this comment.

    Good day,
    Noah
